TKAM @ Studio Arena

Hello everyone,

TKAM is playing at Studio Arena early next year (jan. - feb.). I would love to teach the novel and take my 9th graders to the performance in Feb. Has anyone ever done anything like that? I know that some of the elementary schools (BPS) have received class sets of complimentary tickets and was wondering if McKinley is in on that too. I'll probably be calling the theater soon so if anyone might be interested in going, please just let me know your student numbers. Also, is there a class set of the novels floating around anywhere that might be available between Dec. and Feb.? I have close to 40 students in each of my 9th grade classes. Thanks guys!

Lauren...I would call Studio Arena soon. I know there are like four matinee performances of this show and I can imagine the demand for tickets.

I think it's a great idea. I haven't taken my students to Studio Arena before. We were supposed to go last year, but after telling the students about it I discovered the day of the performance was a superintendent's day. Oops.

I don't about complimentary tickets, but I think regular prices are like $10. They'll need half the money within a week or two, and the rest before the perfomance.

I don't have a class set, and I don't know if there is one in the building. I'd put a note in the other teacher's mailbox as you might have better luck getting a response that way. I probably have about ten copies of the novel, which I'd be happy to lend you.

I'd highly recommend Gear Up and Academic Talent Search as possible sources of funds for tickets. They have helped out in the past, and Academic Talent Search has offered to pay for a field trip if a college visit was involved (so I don't know if that works). Mia would have more information on Gear Up, as she has received materials through them before.

Let me know if I can help any further.
